Muchinshi Upper Basic School

After 7th grade, the students must pay administration and school fees. With most locals living on less than a dollar a day and trying to provide for a large family, these fees are next to impossible.

Muchinshi Upper basic school is a government funded building located off of Solwezi Road within Muchinshi village. Muchinshi educates over 1700 pupils from Muchinshi Village and surrounding areas. Currently, Muchinshi provides teachers and curriculum for grades 1-10.

Muchinshi faces a variety of problems including:

  • Lack of qualified teachers and teacher work incentives such as consistance or competitive salary
  • Lack of resources such as books, workbooks, paper, writing untensils, etc.
  • Too many students to accomadate all of the needs of education. Students get about three hours on average each day of class
  • No support from the government for building materials, remodels, or additions.

HANDZ will provide the following educational resources for Muchinshi Upper Basic School:

  • Individual Educational scholarships that will provide funding for school fees, uniforms, books, and other supplies.
  • Afterschool activities
